Have you been made redundant?
Have you been made redundant? Unfortunately in the present economic climate many employers are finding that sustaining work is difficult and, because of that, reductions in staffing become necessary. Redundancy, therefore, becomes a very real possibility.
If you have been affected are you happy that the process followed proper Employment Law procedures and that you got everything to which you were entitled?
There should have been a notice of redundancy, a consultation period, proper notice and redundancy payments where applicable. The notice period and consultation period depends on the number of staff being made redundant. Similarly, notice periods and redundancy payments depend on length of service and age.
If you feel that the process wasn’t correct or that the final decision was unfair, you should consult an HR Consultant or Employment Law specialist to see if you have a case against the company for Unfair Dismissal.
As with all thing concerning Employment Law, there are time limits to making a claim so you should act quickly, it can be complicated so get help from someone who can explain it to you and help you to sort it out.
